Not terrible, just tepid I think. It never had the six cylinder power it deserved, so Volvo made do with a four pot that wasn't quite enough.

Some of us 'Mericans here are still awake and are perturbed at your lack of faith in us. Hell, all half our racing is is one big turn (mumble mumble NASCAR mumble).
In spirit of American turning, I give to you:

It would have been a terrible handler if they'd fit the B30 I6. I've seen it done once or twice before so it fits, but it's a massive cast-iron lump that would protrude forward of the front wheels.
I'm guessing something around 200-220kg at least (fully dressed B20E is 154kg).
Would be good if you put some effort into balancing it (battery in the boot, lightweight panels up front, lightweight alternator and starter etc.), but as a stock car I think it wouldn't have done brilliantly.

I'd be far more impressed with that car if actual engineering went into making it handle well. Not, you know, giving it the widest tires fitted to any production vehicle. Ever.

Everyday run abouts but each turns nicely and handles a round about with ease (as does the driver and the cars three peddles).

You could post any car that turns in the world, and that is the best you could come up with? I don't remember the P1800 being a legendary handler.

There's a huge difference between designing a car that inherently handles well, and taking a pig and bolting stuff on until it can take a corner.

I mean, the Camero is a fine handling platform all on its own. It's heavy, sure, but I wouldn't call it a pig.
